The Amateur Radio Club of Augusta is affiliated with the Columbia National Weather Service in Columbia South Carolina. The Skywarn Net is activated on the Augusta A.R.C. club repeater frequency 145.490 MHz (-) PL: 71.9 Hz.

The Columbia NWS Severe Weather region covers East Central Georgia with 13 counties and 5 counties in South Carolina. The combined counties in Georgia and South Carolina are often referred to as the CSRA or the Central Savannah River Area.

The Columbia NWS directs when a Skywarn net is to be activated and monitors all weather reports from their Columbia NWS office as reported from the Net Control operator. The Columbia NWS announces weather bulletins and weather updates as conditions change during the Skywarn net.

Net Control opens a directed net, amateur radio operators check into the Skywarn net and report weather conditions from their locations. Spotters also report conditions to Net Control as they move to various locations during the net. Net Control request the frequency be kept clear from unnecessary traffic.
